Ischia, PearsonLloyd’s new seating system for Italian manufacturer Tacchini draws inspiration from sea worn terracotta roof tiles found in the Ionian Sea. The product, launched at the Salone di Mobile in 2017, responds dynamically to both space and users to create a range of sculptural free-form compositions.
Destined for collective settings, Ischia is a system composed from soft oblique seating and table forms, which float above shared timber and marble base elements. Screens crafted in steam-bent ash and woven cane complete each composition, allowing users to affect their sense of space and privacy.
The on-going demand for spaces that bring people together in both workplace and hospitality spaces, makes Ischia utterly relevant in today’s world. The product’s apparent random quality masks an intelligent programming of space and furthers PearsonLloyd’s continuing exploration into the nature and ergonomics of how people interact in public space.
Ischia continues PearsonLloyd’s 12 year working relationship with the Italian brand and celebrates Tacchini’ s unparalleled craftsmanship and design culture.
